Welcome to The George & Dragon, Ightham

With its striking black-and-white Tudor facade, the George and Dragon is an unmissable pub in every sense of the word. Located in the picturesque village of Ightham, not far from Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, it serves excellent food and drink in a genuinely historic setting - attracting visitors from far and wide.

Legend has it that this is where Guy Fawkes hatched his infamous Gunpowder Plot and was later captured after fleeing London when it failed. These days, it’s the food that provides the fireworks, with a sparkling array of delicious dishes created by the pub’s talented French chef.

Drinks, meanwhile, come courtesy of Britain’s oldest brewery - Kent’s own Shepherd Neame - and there are plenty of world wines, spirits and soft drinks too.

To visit the George and Dragon is to follow in royal footsteps. Queen Elizabeth I is rumoured to have stayed here - and the place hasn’t changed much in the time that’s passed since. To this day the building retains plenty of its original character, with antique feature fireplaces and wooden beams lending to the historic atmosphere and making a special place to spend an evening in good company.

A warm welcome awaits all the family, with children welcome in the bar until 6pm.
